Georgia Aquarium got two new whale sharks (Rhincodon typus) today, Alice and Trixie, two females. GA Aquarium got these two whale sharks from Taipei, Taiwan, via a B-747 freighter with advanced marine life support systems from UPS.

These two were introduced into the tank earlier today, with the big hope from everyone that the sharks will breed, making them the first aquarium ever to have accomplished such a feat. They are already the only aquarium ever to attempt to breed whale sharks.

The two whale sharks are 11 and 14 feet in length, and are named after the main characters in the 1950s sitcom The Honeymooners.

It would be amazing if these whale sharks breed. I've been talking about them introducing a female ever since they released a statement that they might attempt it. Lets just hope it works.
