Four Orcas seen off Oregon coast May 18, 2006

Posted by Administrator in Uncategorized.

Steve Saubert at Sea Lion Caves reports seen four Orcas playing off of the Oregon coast. The killer whales were spotted on Tuesday. He says that the Orcas were trying to get the hundreds of Steller Sea Lions (Eumetopias jubatus) sun bathing, though the sea lions wanted no part of them. The warm water usually brings the Orcas up the coast to visit Oregon. Mr. Saubert says that people have to be careful with their boats while the Orcas are around. They are easy to spot, though. So the killer whales shouldn’t have any problems with boats.
