Mote Marine Laboratory has secured another, larger great white shark (Carcharodon carcharias) for their famed shark research center. This one is an impressive 9-footer, and a female on top of it.

She was found off of California and died when she was accidentally snared by fisherman. Her body was given to the Mote Marine Laboratory to be put on display with two smaller great whites.

"The white shark display will be part of an expanded shark exhibit designed to highlight Mote’s extensive history of shark research, which dates back to the lab’s creation in 1955" representatives of Mote said.

Mote Marine Laboratory staff started this week on expanding their exhibit to include the impressive new shark. The exhibit’s purpose is to teach people between facts and myths about great whites. I sure would like to see it.
